Blood tests for sexually transmitted diseases

Risky sexual behaviour such as promiscuity or unprotected sex can result in a number of sexually transmitted diseases. Prevention is basically simple, either a monogamous relationship or protected sex and regular preventive check-ups.

Some diseases show specific symptoms, especially in the genital area, but others are dangerous because they are completely asymptomatic but still cause serious consequences. Moreover, the infected person unknowingly passes the disease on. Most sexually transmitted diseases are highly infectious. If left untreated, STIs can cause, for example, cancer, infertility and also negatively affect the course of pregnancy.

This test will rule out or confirm the suspected presence of HIV, chlamydia, hepatitis C or syphilis. It is advisable to take it 1-3 weeks after the risk contact, as most of the diseases mentioned will not become apparent until after this time.
